Island Source: Pure, plant-based goodness straight from Sri Lanka

Island Source, the natural vegan brand, has recently launched its new products. The natural, Sri Lanka-derived products are chosen to help you live your best, healthiest life.

The Island Source range consists of: cinnamon powder, dehydrated pandan leaves, coconut milk powder and dehydrated curry leaves. These products contain no additives or preservatives, with ingredients from local farms in Sri Lanka which they claim contain ‘the secrets of Sri Lanka’.

Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder

Island Source’s Organic Ceylon Cinnamon powder works wonders in smoothies, juices, porridge and baking. As a single-origin product, there has been no mixing or blending to create this product.

According to Healthline: “Cinnamon is rich in antioxidants and other beneficial compounds and it may help support blood sugar control, protect against heart disease, and reduce inflammation”.

Ceylon cinnamon is ‘true’ cinnamon; Cassia cinnamon is the most common variety and what people generally refer to as cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is much lower in coumarin than the Cassia variety. This is a good thing as too much coumarin may be harmful in large doses.

The sweet, bright and mellow flavours are exceptional in black coffee or a heartfelt banana bread loaf. The warm and light flavours sit just right when taking a sip of our coffee here at V-Land. Ceylon cinnamon powder is a delicious addition to everyone's cupboard and even has a long shelf life of up to two years.

Dehydrated Curry Leaves

Island Source’s Dehydrated Curry Leaves are dehydrated rather than dried to allow them to have a superior flavour. They are from 'the curry tree', native to the Indian subcontinent. “[Curry leaves] are rich in protective plant substances… that give this fragrant herb potent health benefits.”

These curry leaves are perfect in sautés, juices, curries, bread and even hair masks. They are considered an essential spice when cooking many South Asian dishes. We found these curry leaves were delicious with an aromatic, earthy tang. When cooking, these leaves are ready to use; rehydration isn't necessary, but you can sauté with oil to give your meal a rich and full-bodied flavour.

The pure and tasty products can be purchased through Island Source’s Amazon shop. Stay tuned as we will also be reviewing their Organic Coconut Milk Powder and Dehydrated Pandan Leaves soon.
