Go West: London vegan eateries a little off the beaten track

London has no shortage of vegan restaurants and cafes, but they are by no means evenly dispersed. East London is a hotbed for plant-based eateries, but it is definitely worth venturing to other parts of the city where the pickings are less abundant. And we promise, you won’t be disappointed.

Go west, life is peaceful there

As clearly stated by the popular Village People song, there is a lot to be said (and sung) about heading west. It’s peaceful, it’s open, and you’ll do just fine. Actually, if you head to our top picks of vegan eateries in West London, you’ll do more than just fine.

Revival Cafe

Revival Cafe is a plant-based eatery close to South Ealing underground station. Once the bakery of their parents, this London vegan coffee shop is now run by compassionate siblings. The relaxed and welcoming space has been created with a focus on sustainability and a desire to make a positive change. Open early in the morning, they serve the usual coffees and specialty lattes like turmeric and matcha. With a selection of sandwiches and pasties, there is no shortage of options for that savoury fix. However, it is their sweet treats you should not miss. Cookies, loaves, croissants, cheesecakes, and more. Buy every single one, twice.

The Humble Veg

A few blocks up from Northfield station is The Humble Veg. Jacquie is the owner and chef at this small but perfectly formed takeaway. Inspired to create tasty, healthy, homecooked dishes, the coconut-based lentil love or beans & green curry are guaranteed to satisfy. With the additional options of sandwiches, burritos and nachos, there is enough variety to return again and again. They also feature a selection of cakes from local bakers, but their rocky road is a chunky delight you won’t regret investing in. A chocolate biscuity heaven.

Benji’s Buns

Lastly, it is the newest plant-based kid on the block, Benji's Buns. After a stint at the local food market this London vegan bakery opened its first store in Ealing Broadway in 2022. Having just opened at a second location in Notting Hill, this bun empire is starting to build. Specialising in dreamy freshly baked warm and gooey cinnamon buns, we see a bright, and sweet, future. We suggest you ease yourself in with the standard glazed bun before expanding your horizons and opting for something a little more extravagant. Options can vary but with flavours like chocolate, Lotus Biscoff, orange marmalade or blueberry, these super indulgent treats will leave you beyond satiated. They also offer additional treats like brownies and cookie sandwiches, so there is something to satisfy those non-bun cravings too. Get there as soon as you can.
